Think metallic chic rather than the Tin Man – silver accents are an easy way to have fun with your beauty looks

he beauty industry has long had a love affair with silver. When used in skincare, colloidal silver is known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. However, when it comes to makeup, silver is often relegated to the festive season only. Cool-toned metallics can be tricky, but there is a whimsical freshness that silver brings, particularly in spring.

Pewter, silver’s luminous cousin, is darker and often more wearable, but still brings a flash of intensity to the eye. Finishes and textures range from the subtle soupcon of an eyeliner flick to playful glitter dabbed onto lids. In an age of intricate cut-creases and bountiful blending, silver serves as a reminder to have fun.
